How shall I put it?

by Wendy on Nov.09, 2009, under Blogging

Welcome to the big 30!!!

Another year older and wiser…. perhaps strands of grey hair will start sprouting from now on… :)

Someone turned 30 on the 4th August 2009. Join the club darling…. We celebrated his birthday at Pasta Zenmai in MidValley with our parents (both sides). We indulged in the oh-so-yummy food that is absolutely tasty and special!

These were what we ordered….

DPP_6980

DPP_6918

Care to try?

DPP_6919

Japanese meal is not complete without the popular ‘Edamame’

DPP_6921

DPP_6922

I forgot what it’s called. Some beef pasta which darling ordered. Ah-but-den??!!!

DPP_6923

Can’t recall who ordered this but I think it’s mushroom pasta…

DPP_6924

The garlic fried rice that my mum and my father in-law ordered. Which they could not finish – they ordered 2 bowls!

DPP_6925

Oh this is the ultimate Japanese pizza ever…. With scallops and mushroom… the sauce is crazily yummy-licious!

DPP_6926

My favourite pasta – Vongole in mushroom and chilli sauce. Slurppppppp…. The clams are very fresh! And juicy….

DPP_6928

Another pizza – Seafood pizza i think. Apparently not as tasty as the scallop one. The right dish – i totally forgotten what it is… LOL

DPP_6929

Unagi pasta…. Ordered by my father in-law.

DPP_6930

My mum ordered this… She could not finish and started distributing her prawns to everyone!

DPP_6933

This is another yummy dish – again I can’t recall what is this.

DPP_6914

Chit chatting while waiting for the dishes….

DPP_6936

Yup! The table was full and filled with dishes…. we look like glutons….

DPP_6940

The delicious chocolate jelly cake I bought for darling… Portion was just nice since everyone was full to the throats….

DPP_6943

Happy birthday darling!!!! Make a wish… Hey! A wish, not so many k?

DPP_6944

DPP_6953

The inside of the cake…. Looks like ‘kuih lapis’ though.

DPP_6958

And mua…. indulging in the jelly cake. I had it slice by slice… savoring each pieces…

Too many things to do and so little time to finish!!!!

by Wendy on Oct.17, 2009, under Blogging

Work, work, work….

I wish I had a maid now….:(

It’s been almost 3 weeks since we moved in to our new place. Still have lots to do and unpack. We are taking our own sweet time as we are insufficient of certain things…

We need more storage cabinets and drawers

Another countertop for my groceries (for chopping and cutting meat and vegetables) – Ed got Stanly to custom make one for us. Hopefully it’s not too pricey!

A microwave and a countertop

A bigger fridge

and a helping hand….A maid will be great!!! But too bad, this we cant’ afford yet…. At least she can clean my house everyday as it’s super dusty each time we open our windows! Now we keep it close most of the time.

Haven’t gotten a chance to take more pictures. Will do so in due time, soon!!!! :)

Till then, I guess i will be taking a break from blogging for a while till i settle down fully here. Stilll getting used to the routine of cleaning and unpacking everyday. It’s exhausting as I never stopped working even when I come home from work!

Been standing on my feet till it hurts now. Chiropractor said i overused my muscles…. Need the stabilizers… SIGH!

Signing off now… time to zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

p/s: My brother came over to stay for the weekend…. :)

The Big Step…

by Wendy on Sep.25, 2009, under Blogging

Finally our own place !!!

big step

The plan was to stay with my in-laws till next year when the existing condo in Kuchai is vacant in September. Due to circumstances, we made the decision to move out while scouting for a good place to buy. We found this condo in Jalan Puchong (actually it is situated opposite the Old Klang Road police station onwards to Puchong – another route besides LDP).

The condo’s name is Sri Jati 2. Yes, it sounded quite low class like any flats out there but the place in fact is a pretty nice and comfortable place. The best we have seen as everything that comes with it are new. It is partially furnished – TV cabinet, wardrobe (which can only fit Ed’s clothes), sofa and Queen sized bed. Oh yes, curtains for the living hall and master bedroom included. That’s about it. The setback of the house is, no kitchen cabinet installed!!! That is the most important part and we are still trying to get the owner to fix one for us.

We spent a lot to get all the necessary items for the house…. and we are not done yet!!!! Sigh!!!!

We get to move our items in staggered load-ins starting from this Saturday. We will officially move in on the 1st October. Can’t wait! :)

Now we can start playing ‘house’ at last~~~ Hahhahaha ;) and masak-masak! I’d better brush up my cooking skills… feed my hubbie fat-fat…

And this is what Edwin wanted for Tim Tam in the future…

About Agility

Agility began as an exhibition sport in Great Britain and is now being introduced to countries worldwide.  The sport was patterned after equestrian events and combines handler control, agility, and confidence.  The sport of agility is comprised of a course set up of many different obstacles.  Agility is meant to be a fun, non-regimented sport, with a lot of spectator appeal.  Obstacles include jumps, tunnels, a dog walk, a see-saw or teeter, an A-frame and weave poles.

Full Monty!!!!

by Wendy on Aug.20, 2009, under Blogging

Tim Tam has gone full monty!!!! Shaved his fur off 2 weeks ago. He has scabs and so I took the decision to let him go full monty. Well, killed 2 birds with one stone! At least when his furs grow back, it will be shinier, curlier and thicker…

Here are some pictures of how he transformed from a cute furry doggy to a chihuahua look alike pup… LOL! :)

p1020962

p1020960

p1020964

Tim Tam with the funnel… to prevent him from scratching his ears and biting his legs… He was the funniest when he tried going under the bed or trying to squeeze in to places…

p1020966

I bought him a t-shirt, twas a little big for his size even though it was ’s’ size. I could lift him up with it!!! LOL

p1020967

Side view….

p1020969

Him on his ‘daddy’s’ lap about to fall into ‘lala land’… He is such a pig!!! Ed said that he is like his ‘mummy’…damnit! :P

p1030001

Tze Minn holding him and look at his sleepy eyes… sigh! The pig in action again…

p1030014

ZzzzzzzzzzzzzZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzz… so relaxing!!! Me giving him a massage… He lurves it!

He looked so puny and skinny without his furs… Can’t wait for his furs to grow. The vet said it will take aproximately 1 month to see a little fur. So am guessing it will take 6 months to have his furs grown completely… Well, at least for now, it’s easier for me to clean him!

Something sweet and brown….

by Wendy on Jul.14, 2009, under Dogs, Pets

classic-dogs

I have always loved doggies, especially golden retrievers and sharpei… They are just so adorable and smart… and I like the ones that likes to be near human and are friendly and a socialite.

Ed, my sis in-law, aunty and I went for the recent Pet’s World expo at Midvalley Megamall Convention Center.  Objective was to just check out some good looking, handsome dogs doing their ‘thang’ for the audience. Of course, most of them consist of old timers and champs. We were awed to see the dogs performed so well… We wished that children were that obedient!!! :)

The first thing we saw when we arrived were cages filled with yelping toy poodles!!! All vying for attention… Few of them just ignored what’s going on and slept off into lala-land. Three puppies were brought out into the viewing cage for us to play and cuddle… Also for checking if the puppy is active or not, male or female, colour light or dark… I was just so mesmerized with them I couldn’t really cared. I think I gave Ed the ‘puppy’ looked when we had to left the pups to visit other booths coz he asked if I wanted one…:) I said yes but how are we going to get one? We had to take into consideration of space, expenses, care-taking and etc…. He suggested we go thru other stalls first before deciding…

We went from stalls to stalls, most of it were selling and promoting accessories and food. Came across a few other booths selling other breeds as well… I saw a Sharpei pup!!! My favourite dog… He is so cute! Shrugged it off as space is a constraint for us… There were Maltese, pug, Chihuahua, Terrier, German Shephard, Husky, Jack Russels and Pinscher… All looked just so adorable you want to take it home… :) but they were all in a category of medium to large breed… I need something small!

After a round of scouting, we went back to the first booth and finally got into choosing the ‘right’ toy poodle… My criteria: must be a male, darker brown active but not too active… I hated those which keeps on jumping around and biting people’s hand! The pup found me!!! He just made himself comfortable on my hand and almost doze off!! He was so cute and sweet… Instant bonding and feeling of warmness fell onto me. I just had to have him. Bought him for RM900. There goes Ed’s pocket…but I know he did it willingly and full heartedly. :)

tim-tam1Preview cage - left is my pup

I had to go through a short briefing on the pup, do’s and don’ts and all. While at it, Aunt Lisa and Catherine went to buy some puppy things without me knowing… So sweet of them to get excited! Aunt Lisa bought him a teddy bear and Cat bought him a collar strap.  It was instant attraction - I just felt that he will be a spoiled pooch. :P

tim-tam2

Fell asleep on my lap while i was briefed by the seller

tim-tam4

Aunt Lisa just adore him - She was the one who bought Teddy for him

We did not get to name him till the next day (saturday) when we went over to my Godparents place. Everyone were trying to come up with a unique name. Finally Serah mentioned Tim Tam and I totally agreed with it instantly. It just sounded right without it being too obvious that it represents ‘chocolaty’, ‘brown’, and all that jazz… I think it’s pretty unique too… so TIM TAM it is…

tim-tams-original

030720094043

Can you see the similarity of it? LOL :P

It is the first step into parenthood! Tim Tam acts like a baby… well he was only 7 weeks old when we bought him. Turning 2months this coming Thursday (16 July). He peed and poo-ed all over the place… it took us a few days to get him to potty on the newspaper… we succeeded except the poo-ing part… Somehow, he loves to poo elsewhere… still working on it now…

He developed skin rash within 2 days of bringing him home… took him to a vet and got him ointment… got him some vitamins as he was not eating well too… The vet informed that it’s normal as they need to get use to the new surroundings… Thank goodness, he is eating well now… he brought a lot of attention with the whole family running around taking care of him… well, he is indeed well loved though! :) How can we not? He is absolutely adorable and notti the same time…..

I am learning how to train him each day. Purchased an e-book which cost cheaper than sending him to an obedient school… Not fully taken off yet but am surely doing it bit by bit…. Well, at least we got the pee-ing part completed… Next will be the leash training and potty training part 2. It is tough work taking care of a pup but it is a real satisfaction when he suddenly does what you have been teaching him. Puts a smile on my face each time…..

I do go through what every mummy does each nite… Waking up for milk and such, mine is not for food but to clean up his poo and his ass… :P He seriously wakes us up just to let us know he had an accident and he needs us to clean up. How smart eh? But it’s better to have a pup that wakes you up than him not alerting you and finding the stench and poo and pee all over the place when you wake up in the morning!!! Or worst, when you need to pee in the middle of the nite while being groggy and steps on it… Eeeeeeew!!!

I can’t wait for him to grow!!! AND TO BE FULLY TRAINED…. My life will be easier, then perhaps, I can have back my undisturbed rest at nite…. :)

030720094022

So tiny and fragile…

040720094051

His ‘housemate’ - Teddy Bear…. loves to snuggle up with Teddy, guess it feels closest to his ‘brothers and sisters’

08072009407 08072009411 08072009408 08072009409

His favourite position when i ‘dry wash’ him… he just know how to enjoy his ‘massage’ - pampered pooch!!!

Run Forest Run!!!!

by Wendy on Jul.01, 2009, under Family

Last Sunday we had shrimps for dinner. We went to Bubba Gump at The Curve.

Edwin, Catherine and I went for shopping spree. Objective: to find white dresses for our cousin’s wedding next month. Theme: obviously WHITE.

The itinerary for the day was scheduled as such:

1st stop: Nichii at F&N Business Park KL (Since it was on sale, we thought my as well check it out)

2nd stop: Midvalley City (I wanted to check out the kitchen utensils at Carrefour which was on a 70% slash)

3rd stop: Home

However, when we reached the Sungai Besi highway, the jam leading towards Loke Yew was super duper jam! Found out that they had some marathon thingy or something of equavalent. I made a quick decision to skip the plan and wanted to head straight to Midvalley. We rerouted and headed towards Midvalley when halfway, i mentioned that I feel like going to IKEA. Edwin seconded. So we went to IKEA. It was also because Nichii is available at The Curve too.

Reached IKEA, bought some quilt covers and Kibbles’ cushion. Went over to The Curve, checked out Nichii, did not find a good looking white dress. Left to check out the flea market where we bump into Serah. Wanted to pass her Kibbles cushion but we put it in the car…Will pass to her in a few days instead.

Catherine noticed Bubba Gump and decided to call parents in-law for dinner together. As none of us have tried Bubba Gump before, we thought it will be a perfect time to do so. Met Melvin too… but he suggested that we should not go for it as it is yucky… Anyhow, we checked it out anyway… taste is depended on a person’s preference eh?

So in we went… and we looked around in amazement, feel like a child again - discovering something new and extraordinary… we got lost in Forest Gump’s world… Why? Coz if you remembered the movie, this is a lil history of how it came about:

The Bubba Gump restaurant is named after the movie’s main characters Benjamin Buford “Bubba” Blue and Forrest Gump. Bubba suggested the shrimping business and ultimately Forest pursued the idea after Bubba’s untimely death when they served in the Vietnam War.

Our feast at Bubba Gump…

We were seated upstairs,  the room has all Forest’s and his family’s photo hung all over the wall…the pictures look very nostalgic

p1020855 p1020856

p1080287-11

Thematic settings in the restaurant is based on the movie.

If you have watched the movie, you will know what this represents :)

p1020853 This is a very cool concept: It’s for customers to get the server’s attention and service. Instead of the usual snapping and whistling to get the servers attention, this is how its done… when you flip it to ‘Stop Forest Stop’ it means you need services from the servers.

p1020854 ‘Run Forest Run’ means you do not need any service or attending to. Cool eh? But the servers really need to be REAL attentive and alert.

p1080291-1

Dessert and special drinks menu attached to a ping pong bat… ingenious!

The menu is filled with shrimps dishes… prepared in all style you can ever imagine! I got a lil worried as too much prawns will get my tongue itching….I decided not to order any main dish as we had ordered too many appetizers, besides i knew the portion will definately be huge! I decided to pick from everyone! :)

Here were our feasts-

p1020857

Cat’s cocktail: Medal Margarita (hand shaken cocktail - it serves out at least 5 glasses! Worth it for Rm24.00)

Ed’s drink: Tropical something, can’t recall…but according to him, it tasted like some cough mixture

Myself: I had ‘pure and neat’ H20… LOL - just iced cold water….

Parents in-law: Father - Ice lemon tea, mother - Can’t recall either… :P

For appetizers we ordered:

p10208621

The delicious garlic bread… comes with the dinner set my parents in-law ordered… it somehow reminded me of ‘Cheezels’…

salad

Salad…

p1020865

Shrimper’s Net Catch - Shrimp steamed in beer to tender perfection and served with Bubba’s garlic spice and cajun spice. It’s half-half.

p1020866

I totally forgot what this is called… Something with ‘American’ in it… Served with tortilla chips with spinach and roasted red peppers, artichokes, and monterey jack cheese. This is yummy!!!!

The main dishes:

p1020863

Dixie Style Baby Back Ribs: The yummy beef ribs… melts in your mouth!

p1020864

another beef dish (the meat was RAW!!! Cat’s a carnivore!!!)

p1080326-1

Mother in-law ordered this - Salmon and Veggie Skillet

p10208671

Shrimper’s Heaven : 4 types of prawns done differently, accompanied with 4 types of sauces..

I wanted to try the yummy looking desserts but I couldn’t take in anymore food, I was stuffed with prawns!!!! I vow to go back just for the dessert the next round….:)

Overall, it was a great environment and ambiance - cozy and unique…. It’s like Forest having open house to everyone….!!!! We had some fun on this particular Sunday as food was being shared and jokes were flowing like it’s ‘Happy hour’ ;) Till the next round, I will share some of the in-house jokes that I feel is just classic…hahahaha :P

Father’s Day

Father’s Day was on the 21st June this year. Got my dad and dad in-law to the revolving restaurant at Federal Hotel. It was a a high tea buffet.

The buffet spread has gone good to bad this time, quality of food was bad and the variety has shrunk. However, according to my father in-law; the price remained the same!

Fathers of the Year….

Fathers are wonderful people,
too little understood,
And we do not sing their praises
as often as we should,

For Father struggles daily
to live up to his image
As protector and provider
and hero of the scrimmage,

And perhaps that is the reason
we sometimes get the notion
That fathers are not subject
to the thing we call emotion.

But if you look inside Dad’s heart,
where no one else can see,
You’ll find he’s sentimental
and soft as he can be.

Fathers are just wonderful
in a million different ways,
And they merit loving compliments
and accolades of praise,

For the only reason Dad aspires
to fortune and success
Is to make the family proud of him
and bring them happiness,

And like our heavenly Father,
he’s a guardian and a guide,
