Something sweet and brown….
by Wendy on Jul.14, 2009, under Dogs, Pets

I have always loved doggies, especially golden retrievers and sharpei… They are just so adorable and smart… and I like the ones that likes to be near human and are friendly and a socialite.
Ed, my sis in-law, aunty and I went for the recent Pet’s World expo at Midvalley Megamall Convention Center. Objective was to just check out some good looking, handsome dogs doing their ‘thang’ for the audience. Of course, most of them consist of old timers and champs. We were awed to see the dogs performed so well… We wished that children were that obedient!!!
The first thing we saw when we arrived were cages filled with yelping toy poodles!!! All vying for attention… Few of them just ignored what’s going on and slept off into lala-land. Three puppies were brought out into the viewing cage for us to play and cuddle… Also for checking if the puppy is active or not, male or female, colour light or dark… I was just so mesmerized with them I couldn’t really cared. I think I gave Ed the ‘puppy’ looked when we had to left the pups to visit other booths coz he asked if I wanted one…:) I said yes but how are we going to get one? We had to take into consideration of space, expenses, care-taking and etc…. He suggested we go thru other stalls first before deciding…
We went from stalls to stalls, most of it were selling and promoting accessories and food. Came across a few other booths selling other breeds as well… I saw a Sharpei pup!!! My favourite dog… He is so cute! Shrugged it off as space is a constraint for us… There were Maltese, pug, Chihuahua, Terrier, German Shephard, Husky, Jack Russels and Pinscher… All looked just so adorable you want to take it home…
but they were all in a category of medium to large breed… I need something small!
After a round of scouting, we went back to the first booth and finally got into choosing the ‘right’ toy poodle… My criteria: must be a male, darker brown active but not too active… I hated those which keeps on jumping around and biting people’s hand! The pup found me!!! He just made himself comfortable on my hand and almost doze off!! He was so cute and sweet… Instant bonding and feeling of warmness fell onto me. I just had to have him. Bought him for RM900. There goes Ed’s pocket…but I know he did it willingly and full heartedly.
Preview cage - left is my pup
I had to go through a short briefing on the pup, do’s and don’ts and all. While at it, Aunt Lisa and Catherine went to buy some puppy things without me knowing… So sweet of them to get excited! Aunt Lisa bought him a teddy bear and Cat bought him a collar strap. It was instant attraction - I just felt that he will be a spoiled pooch.

Fell asleep on my lap while i was briefed by the seller

Aunt Lisa just adore him - She was the one who bought Teddy for him
We did not get to name him till the next day (saturday) when we went over to my Godparents place. Everyone were trying to come up with a unique name. Finally Serah mentioned Tim Tam and I totally agreed with it instantly. It just sounded right without it being too obvious that it represents ‘chocolaty’, ‘brown’, and all that jazz… I think it’s pretty unique too… so TIM TAM it is…

Can you see the similarity of it? LOL
It is the first step into parenthood! Tim Tam acts like a baby… well he was only 7 weeks old when we bought him. Turning 2months this coming Thursday (16 July). He peed and poo-ed all over the place… it took us a few days to get him to potty on the newspaper… we succeeded except the poo-ing part… Somehow, he loves to poo elsewhere… still working on it now…
He developed skin rash within 2 days of bringing him home… took him to a vet and got him ointment… got him some vitamins as he was not eating well too… The vet informed that it’s normal as they need to get use to the new surroundings… Thank goodness, he is eating well now… he brought a lot of attention with the whole family running around taking care of him… well, he is indeed well loved though!
How can we not? He is absolutely adorable and notti the same time…..
I am learning how to train him each day. Purchased an e-book which cost cheaper than sending him to an obedient school… Not fully taken off yet but am surely doing it bit by bit…. Well, at least we got the pee-ing part completed… Next will be the leash training and potty training part 2. It is tough work taking care of a pup but it is a real satisfaction when he suddenly does what you have been teaching him. Puts a smile on my face each time…..
I do go through what every mummy does each nite… Waking up for milk and such, mine is not for food but to clean up his poo and his ass…
He seriously wakes us up just to let us know he had an accident and he needs us to clean up. How smart eh? But it’s better to have a pup that wakes you up than him not alerting you and finding the stench and poo and pee all over the place when you wake up in the morning!!! Or worst, when you need to pee in the middle of the nite while being groggy and steps on it… Eeeeeeew!!!
I can’t wait for him to grow!!! AND TO BE FULLY TRAINED…. My life will be easier, then perhaps, I can have back my undisturbed rest at nite….

So tiny and fragile…

His ‘housemate’ - Teddy Bear…. loves to snuggle up with Teddy, guess it feels closest to his ‘brothers and sisters’

His favourite position when i ‘dry wash’ him… he just know how to enjoy his ‘massage’ - pampered pooch!!!

His Transformer Autobots t-shirt that Pete gave. It used to be Kibble’s… Ain’t he cute???
Run Forest Run!!!!

Last Sunday we had shrimps for dinner. We went to Bubba Gump at The Curve.
Edwin, Catherine and I went for shopping spree. Objective: to find white dresses for our cousin’s wedding next month. Theme: obviously WHITE.
The itinerary for the day was scheduled as such:
1st stop: Nichii at F&N Business Park KL (Since it was on sale, we thought my as well check it out)
2nd stop: Midvalley City (I wanted to check out the kitchen utensils at Carrefour which was on a 70% slash)
3rd stop: Home
However, when we reached the Sungai Besi highway, the jam leading towards Loke Yew was super duper jam! Found out that they had some marathon thingy or something of equavalent. I made a quick decision to skip the plan and wanted to head straight to Midvalley. We rerouted and headed towards Midvalley when halfway, i mentioned that I feel like going to IKEA. Edwin seconded. So we went to IKEA. It was also because Nichii is available at The Curve too.
Reached IKEA, bought some quilt covers and Kibbles’ cushion. Went over to The Curve, checked out Nichii, did not find a good looking white dress. Left to check out the flea market where we bump into Serah. Wanted to pass her Kibbles cushion but we put it in the car…Will pass to her in a few days instead.
Catherine noticed Bubba Gump and decided to call parents in-law for dinner together. As none of us have tried Bubba Gump before, we thought it will be a perfect time to do so. Met Melvin too… but he suggested that we should not go for it as it is yucky… Anyhow, we checked it out anyway… taste is depended on a person’s preference eh?
So in we went… and we looked around in amazement, feel like a child again - discovering something new and extraordinary… we got lost in Forest Gump’s world… Why? Coz if you remembered the movie, this is a lil history of how it came about:
The Bubba Gump restaurant is named after the movie’s main characters Benjamin Buford “Bubba” Blue and Forrest Gump. Bubba suggested the shrimping business and ultimately Forest pursued the idea after Bubba’s untimely death when they served in the Vietnam War.
Our feast at Bubba Gump…

“Life is like a box of chocolate” - Forest’s bench

look at the shoes…

We were seated upstairs, the room has all Forest’s and his family’s photo hung all over the wall…the pictures look very nostalgic

Thematic settings in the restaurant is based on the movie.
If you have watched the movie, you will know what this represents
This is a very cool concept: It’s for customers to get the server’s attention and service. Instead of the usual snapping and whistling to get the servers attention, this is how its done… when you flip it to ‘Stop Forest Stop’ it means you need services from the servers.
‘Run Forest Run’ means you do not need any service or attending to. Cool eh? But the servers really need to be REAL attentive and alert.

Dessert and special drinks menu attached to a ping pong bat… ingenious!
The menu is filled with shrimps dishes… prepared in all style you can ever imagine! I got a lil worried as too much prawns will get my tongue itching….I decided not to order any main dish as we had ordered too many appetizers, besides i knew the portion will definately be huge! I decided to pick from everyone!
Here were our feasts-

Cat’s cocktail: Medal Margarita (hand shaken cocktail - it serves out at least 5 glasses! Worth it for Rm24.00)
Ed’s drink: Tropical something, can’t recall…but according to him, it tasted like some cough mixture
Myself: I had ‘pure and neat’ H20… LOL - just iced cold water….
Parents in-law: Father - Ice lemon tea, mother - Can’t recall either…
For appetizers we ordered:

The delicious garlic bread… comes with the dinner set my parents in-law ordered… it somehow reminded me of ‘Cheezels’…

Salad…

Shrimper’s Net Catch - Shrimp steamed in beer to tender perfection and served with Bubba’s garlic spice and cajun spice. It’s half-half.

I totally forgot what this is called… Something with ‘American’ in it… Served with tortilla chips with spinach and roasted red peppers, artichokes, and monterey jack cheese. This is yummy!!!!
The main dishes:

Dixie Style Baby Back Ribs: The yummy beef ribs… melts in your mouth!

another beef dish (the meat was RAW!!! Cat’s a carnivore!!!)

Mother in-law ordered this - Salmon and Veggie Skillet

Shrimper’s Heaven : 4 types of prawns done differently, accompanied with 4 types of sauces..
I wanted to try the yummy looking desserts but I couldn’t take in anymore food, I was stuffed with prawns!!!! I vow to go back just for the dessert the next round….:)
Overall, it was a great environment and ambiance - cozy and unique…. It’s like Forest having open house to everyone….!!!! We had some fun on this particular Sunday as food was being shared and jokes were flowing like it’s ‘Happy hour’
Till the next round, I will share some of the in-house jokes that I feel is just classic…hahahaha
